A. Eligibility

The Malaysia Smart Manufacturing Awards 2023 recognizes companies across various categories that have excelled in implementing smart manufacturing practices. The award categories include:

1. What is the definition of SME?

Sales turnover and number of full-time employees are the two criteria used in determining the definition with the “OR” basis as follows:

For the manufacturing sector, SMEs are defined as firms with sales turnover not exceeding RM50 million OR number of full-time employees not exceeding 200.

2. Can 1 company apply for more than 1 award categories in MSMA 2025?

Yes. One company can apply for more than 1 categories. For example, a company that participate in Open Category can also participate in the Industry 4.0 Technology Pillars Category. Yet, participation in each of the categories will incur processing fee separately.

Organisers of the MSMA 2025 reserves to rights add on or reduce the number of winners if deemed fit.

2. Is there a chance of being awarded more than one Awards?

Yes.

3. What will the winners get?

Winners will get an Award Trophy and a Certificate of Achievement. In addition, winners will get to be rewarded with exclusive benefits offered by sponsors. The winning rewards is still being compiled and finalized.

C. Submission of Nomination/Participation

1. Can we submit a physical application for the award nomination?

No. All submissions must be done online via www.msma.com.my.

2. What will be the best way to get clarification on the nomination form and expectations of submission information?

Any queries should be made directly to msma@bizsphere.com.my. Award Nomination Process Clinic will be organized periodically to brief and offer clarification on matters related to the nomination. Interested participants are encouraged to register an account with MSMA 2025 as organizers will invite registered nominees for the nomination process clinics.

3. Will the nomination be based on a particular process improvement or company overall adoption?

Nomination can be for both specific process improvement or company-wide projects. Yet, nominees are encouraged to scope it as a project with specific objectives, deliverables, and performance.

4. What if our online nomination is not complete?

Organizers of MSMA 2025 reserve the right to reject the nomination without a refund of the processing fee. Nominees are encouraged to review the completeness of the submission before submission.

5. What happens after online nomination has been done?

Organizers will compile and summarize your nomination ready for review by a panel of judges. Organizers may contact you for further information, documentation, or clarification when required.

D. Judging

1. What will be the core judging criteria?

MSMA 2025 judging process is based on three fundamental criteria:

  • Performance of Adoption
  • Level of Company-Wide Adoption
  • Adoption of Industry 4.0 as Business Strategy and Sustainability
2. Who will be the panel of judges?

Members of the judges will be appointed by Organizers. They will be captains of the industries, technical experts, as well as representatives from government agencies.

E. Relevance and Benefits to participate in MSMA 2025

1. What is the profile of companies that are most relevant to participate in MSMA 2025?
  • Adopted any/combination of Industry 4.0 Technology Pillars and are contributing to company growth in every aspect.
  • SMEs which are part of the supply chain of Local Large Companies, MNCs, or presently exporting. Winning the award will enhance the company’s image/branding, showcasing its capability and competitiveness in the manufacturing sector.
  • Companies who wanted to benchmark their smart manufacturing initiatives for continuous improvement.
  • Companies who wanted to motivate their team members in the journey of digital transformation
